OUR APPROACH
TO CARE
We AIM to create a “Fear Free” environment and handling approach with our furry friends.
The benefits of integrative veterinary medicine go far beyond treating the symptoms of a particular condition. By addressing the underlying causes of illness and promoting overall health and wellness, integrative veterinary medicine can help prevent future health issues and achieve optimal wellness for your pet.
One of the key principles of integrative veterinary medicine is the concept of “informed consent.” This means that the veterinarian and the animal’s owner work together to make informed decisions about the best course of treatment, taking into account the risks and benefits of each option.
Our integrative approach is mostly noninvasive, with a focus on:
Acupuncture
Herbal Therapy and Supplements
Homeopathy
Essential Oils
Flower Essences
Nutrition
Cold Laser Therapy
Adjunctive Diagnostic Testing

ABOUT OUR
Dr. Stephanie Sur has been practicing integrative medicine for over 20 years. Did you know that in Latin, “doctor” means teacher? Dr. Stephanie believes that teaching her clients how to care for their furry family members will ensure that each pet thrives, not merely survives.
Dr. Stephanie grew up in California and moved to Bend in 2020. She attended the University of California Davis for her undergraduate degrees of Bachelors in Science. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003, and completed her IVAS (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society) certification in veterinary acupuncture in 2010. Dr. Stephanie has focused her care since then on integrative and holistic approaches to healthcare, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and nutritional therapy.
Dr. Sur lives in Bend with her husband, two children, and their Pomsky dogs Pichu and Zeppelin. Her interests include family time, trying new restaurants, studying health, advocacy, and spending time with friends.

JEN HILL
Jen Hill has been a Veterinary Nurse since 2007. She started her veterinary journey in Sonoma County, California. She has worked at multiple hospitals, expanding her knowledge and skills through the years. After working with an Integrative Veterinarian, she was able to appreciate the positive results of integrative care, when modern veterinary medicine did not have an answer. That was the spark that lit her curiosity to learn other modalities of healing.
Jen moved to Bend in 2019. Shortly after, she started working with Dr. Stephanie Sur, who encouraged and supported her interest in learning more about different forms of medicine. Jen received her Certification in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine for Techs from Chi University in October 2023.
Jen has a soft spot for older pets and loves the options Integrative care provides them. She also believes strongly that the animal-human bond is special, and she loves helping pet parents care for their pets. She never forgets that every pet is someone’s best friend and is precious. It is very important to her to make sure every pet feels safe and comfortable when coming to Four Paws.
Jen is the proud parent of a sassy, senior pug, Nala. When she is not doting on Nala, Jen enjoys spending time with her family, reading, gardening, arts and crafts, and making herbal remedies.
